Course Overview

About Diploma in Translation Course

Diploma in Translation is a 2-year full-time diploma that builds your understanding of language, literature, translation and precise written expression, with Translation as the main subject through all 4 semesters.

Teaching combines classroom sessions with close reading and textual analysis, translation exercises and creative and content writing, so what you learn in theory is immediately practised. You finish with Diploma in Translation and a record of work you can show to an employer or a university.

The value of Diploma in Translation

  • A single clear subject focus: Translation, studied properly for 2 years rather than spread thin.
  • Practical work every semester — close reading and textual analysis, translation exercises and creative and content writing — so you can show what you can do, not only what you studied.
  • Subject choices that stay relevant: Translation: Practical Lab / Workshop, Industry Internship and Digital Tools.
  • A degree from a UGC-recognised state private university, valid for employment and for further study.
  • Small campus, direct access to faculty, and daily classroom support at Namchi, Sikkim.

What you will be able to do

  • Write and edit accurately for different audiences in the context of Translation.
  • Translate between languages with correct sense in the context of Translation.
  • Analyse literary and cultural texts in the context of Translation.
  • Speak and present with confidence in the context of Translation.
  • Complete a Translation project or internship and present it to faculty.
Faculty access

Batch sizes stay small enough that Translation faculty know each student, review project work individually and are reachable outside class hours.

Practice-led teaching

close reading and textual analysis, translation exercises and creative and content writing are scheduled into the timetable, not added on. Assessment runs continuously through the semester.

Career preparation

Resume writing, communication and interview practice are part of the programme, aimed at the roles Diploma in Translation graduates actually apply for.

Namchi campus

Classes for Translation run on the Namchi campus at Assangthang, with classrooms, library and workshop facilities on site.
