Life at MIT Sikkim

MIT University Sikkim — formally the Management and Information Technology University, Sikkim — was established under Act No. 11 of 2024 by the Government of Sikkim and is run by the IMTS Foundation. The campus is located in the Namchi district of Sikkim, offering students a peaceful, distraction-free environment that is ideal for focused learning.

Industry-designed courses: Engineering, Computer Science, and IT programmes are developed with expert input; Management programmes use real company case studies; Paramedical students train in actual hospitals; and creative fields like fashion, media, and photography use professional-grade equipment.

The university has listed collaborations with major organisations — including Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Tata, Infosys, Wipro, HCL, Reliance, ICICI Bank, Airtel, SBI, Mahindra, Bajaj Group, Hindustan Unilever, Flipkart, Paytm, PhonePe, and Hero — as part of its growing industry-partner network to strengthen internships and future placement pipelines.

Programme-specific placement cells are being established — for example, the MHA (Master of Hospital Administration) programme already has a dedicated placement cell connecting graduates with hospitals and healthcare organisations.

25% seats reserved for Sikkim domicile students and 5% merit scholarships for economically disadvantaged students, making quality, career-focused education more accessible.
