MA in Psychology is a 2-year full-time postgraduate programme taught on the MIT University Sikkim campus at Namchi, Sikkim, across 4 semesters and 80 credits (Level 7). Psychology is the main subject in every year, supported by practical work, a project or internship and continuous assessment. Eligibility: Any Graduation. On completion the award is MA — 80 Credits (2-Year PG).
If you want to build a career around Psychology, MA in Psychology is the 2-year route: 4 semesters on the Namchi campus, 80 credits, and Psychology at the centre of every year.
Teaching combines classroom sessions with psychological testing practicals, case observation and recording and role-play and counselling skills sessions, so what you learn in theory is immediately practised. You finish with MA and a record of work you can show to an employer or a university.
Resume writing, communication and interview practice are part of the programme, aimed at the roles MA in Psychology graduates actually apply for.
Classes for Psychology run on the Namchi campus at Assangthang, with classrooms, library and laboratory facilities on site.
Batch sizes stay small enough that Psychology faculty know each student, review project work individually and are reachable outside class hours.
psychological testing practicals, case observation and recording and role-play and counselling skills sessions are scheduled into the timetable, not added on. Assessment runs continuously through the semester.
MA in Psychology is a 2-year, 80-credit postgraduate programme taught full-time on the Namchi campus across 4 semesters at Level 7, under NEP 2020 and the Choice Based Credit System.
You study single subject (1), with electives such as Psychology: Advanced Theory & Practice, Psychology: Applied / Industry Track and Psychology: Research & Analytics Track, research methodology and a dissertation or major project leading to MA — 80 Credits (2-Year PG).
The minimum qualification is Any Graduation. Admission is merit based, with no entrance examination and no upper age limit.
The programme suits students aiming at a career in psychology & behavioural studies, working candidates who need a recognised degree, and anyone planning higher studies or competitive examinations.
The early semesters build the foundation of Psychology alongside language, digital and multidisciplinary courses; the middle semesters move into core theory and applied work in areas such as Psychology: Advanced Theory & Practice, Psychology: Applied / Industry Track, Psychology: Research & Analytics Track and Psychology: Contemporary Issues.
The final year adds advanced coursework, an internship or on-the-job training and a dissertation, with continuous internal assessment and built-in soft-skill, resume and interview training.
Graduates typically start in roles such as Counsellor, Psychometrician, HR Associate and Behavioural Researcher, in both private organisations and government recruitment where the notification allows.
The qualification supports admission to research and doctoral programmes and is widely accepted for teaching-eligibility examinations in the discipline.

Awareness of mental health has increased sharply in schools, workplaces and community programmes, creating steady need for trained behavioural professionals.
For MA in Psychology specifically, the work is concentrated in counselling centres and clinics, schools and special education, human resources departments and NGOs and community programmes. Employers in these areas look for the exact practical skills this programme trains — administer and score standard psychological tests and observe and record behaviour objectively — which is why project and internship work is built into the course rather than left optional.
