Anti-Ragging Committee
Purpose
MIT University Sikkim maintains a zero-tolerance policy against ragging. The Anti-Ragging Committee is constituted in line with directives of the University Grants Commission and the Supreme Court of India, and works proactively to prevent ragging while maintaining a safe and harmonious campus.
Key Responsibilities
- • Mandatory Affidavits — every student and parent/guardian submits anti-ragging affidavits at admission, including a hostel resident's declaration, with annual renewal.
- • Awareness Programmes — freshman orientation, anti-ragging workshops, faculty sensitisation and peer counselling through the year.
- • Monitoring Systems — CCTV surveillance in hostels, regular inspections, anonymous reporting and structured student feedback.
- • 24/7 Helpline — dedicated helpline, emergency response team, online complaint portal and confidential counselling.
This layered approach — legal compliance, active prevention, continuous monitoring and swift response — reflects how seriously the University treats student safety.
Students who witness or experience ragging should use the 24/7 helpline or the anonymous portal immediately; early reporting is what allows the monitoring system to work.
